Picture Challenge: Games
This picture is dedicated to RubyRedRose, Xail, Adam, therabitt, and ot_atma when he isn’t playing World of Warcraft. I hope you can guess what game I chose.

I didn’t color it. I am too afraid of messing it up. In a few weeks after Ruby and I have more pictures done I might challenge to color a past entry.

My hand shakes when I ink. I hope the more I ink the less I will shake. So far I have done two pictures and I am ashamed of both of them. I keep telling my self that even good artist like Ruby think their art sucks when it kicks ass, so mine might be tolerable, and I am just over critical.

Oh, how pretty. It's very ethereal. Sorta ghostly and graceful.

You're doing well. Learn to extrapolate your shapes more. Study reference art for better understanding of how to draw simple things...like your hair and flowers.

Keep it up, you're doing well.

I’m looking at all the porn I can!

Porn = a poor mans figure study.

Most of the shapes in this picture are from a card game called “Aquarius” I cant really take credit for the flowers, but making the hair was a real challenge because the shapes the card gave me to work with were all incomplete so I had to complete the shape in a way that still felt natural and looked like hair.

Aquarius!

Amusingly, Adam and [info]xail both have much more severe wow addictions than I do. For example, Adam power-ground a pally to 40 in one week.

I'm thinking both Aquarius and Katamari Damacy. I think it's due to the very round world, and the rainbow. I can probably help with the scanning thing, and I have a good way to experiment with coloring without losing your original. It's called printing the scan. n_n I did it with last weeks and while I don't much like the coloring job I did, it's fun! n_n (I like crayons.)

My hands shake when I'm inking too. That's why I like drawing with ballpoint pens...because it doesn't show when I draw that way. Some things show shakey hands more than others...Microns are good because they don't show it as much and you can be very exact. Quill pens show shakiness a lot. T_T But I WILL learn to do it eventually. (grr) Also, remember that you're building muscles in your hands by drawing a lot. So yes, besides the whole learning to draw thing, you also have to do it a lot to build hand-eye coordination.

As for picture itself, I really like the composition. You have a nice triangle of where the eye goes. And I do want to see this colored. n_n

Because I didn’t scan the picture the back ground isn’t white. It has a red tinge to it. If I print it the printer will try to add that red tinge to the whole print out.

I found this out when I printed last week’s picture. And the printer added so much red to the page that it was pooling on the paper. This time I covered the red wall with white printer paper to minimize the red reflected light.

Nifty!

I really like the contrasting diagonals of the ground and sky. The way the skyband hits the cloud and rainbow draws the eye to the figure, and the inclusion of the rainbow balances the weight of the empty half of the picture.

No, I'm not spazzing. Composition is tough, and one of the last things most non-professionals consider. Good for you!

Also good for you: the nifty varied line thickness on the ground curves, and the sparse use of shadows on the trees.

I think I see some of that shakiness you were talking about around the legs. Wish I could give you some hope for that, but...er.. have you seen Blazing Saddles? "I draw with this hand"? Yeah. Good luck with that, though!
