Picture Challenge: Clog!
So I was sitting at my desk working diligently (Like I do) when I heard coughing from the next cube. It was a guy coughing but the person who normally sits in that cube is a woman. Then he started making noises… These are the actual noises he was making too; I typed them in to an email and sent them to my self, so I would have them when I did the clog.

I don’t have any drawing programs other than MS paint. But I wanted to use my tablet so I decided what the foo I will draw in paint with my spiffy tablet. After 5 min I gave up but I liked what I had drawn (the eyes) so I just finished the whole thing in paint with the mouse.

So, Ruby, what is this weeks challenge?

O.o I keep telling you, you need a new job. Also, what tablet do you have? Mine came with bundled art programs.

This suffers from the copy-paste problem of a lot of comics, art-wise, but the writing makes that work. I like the shell-shocked look in the last panel, too. The figure is a good likeness, unlike a lot of my self-portraits: very iconic.

Next weeks challenge....draw a non-original character other than one you designed from a written description. This can be from a book, someone else's description, or whatever, but you can not draw someone else's design of the character. For example, you can draw Bilbo from The Hobbit, but he can't look like the Bilbo from the animated movie, and he has to match the description from the book. You could also draw someone's DnD character, or whatever, but for example I can not draw Edith since I designed her.

I like your near-ASCII avatar here. But it does make comment on the art seem kinda pointless.

So I'll gripe about the type, fully aware of the irony! You've got a good amount of space for type in the top of the panel, especially for how little is being said, so why is the font so dinky? Even at large size, I can hardly read it. More to the point of the comic, a larger font, even one so simple, would allow the verbal exchange at the end to overlap more naturally, emphasizing the joke. As it is, I don't know if that's you shouting "No!", but if you lowered the balloon, it would be hard to see a logical overlap.

There. Now your skinny butt owes me a comment, too;).

Ok, granted drawing in paint isn’t the same as drawing freehand but I did draw that. My artistic skill (such as it is) made that. It all went from my brain to my hand an on to the screen and it took a lot of work. So the art is worth comment.

You are right about the no at the end. I was going for an effect and it didn’t work. I tried to make who was talking clearer by using different fonts. But they are very similar and if the graphic makes both fonts difficult to read then it’s really no help.

I will consider this a lesson on dialogue for when I do some day make my own web comic.
