Everyone knows I was looking for another job a while ago but stopped because I finally got the raise I had been promised. Well it turns out I didn’t get the $1.00 raise, instead I got a $0.50 raise, and my father plans to give me the rest in cash each pay check. I get that Ed probably couldn’t talk Matt in to the full $1.00 raise, but because he made a promise he is going out of his way to fulfill it. However I don’t like that arrangement. I don’t want money from my dad. I want the fucking raise!

Teresa is telling me this is better because I won’t have to declare it on my taxes. Teresa’s tax advice is why I am paying the IRS $100.00 a month for failure to file in 2005.

So I think I will begin looking for a job again. Again. I hate the idea of working for a temp agency because I worry I will find myself out of work for three months at a time. But my job hunting adventures are showing me that it is likely I won’t get a job any other way.

Sigh, damn it, except for it sucking I really really like my job.

The trip to OK was uneventful. We left at 5pm, and got to the hotel at 7pm. But the paperwork said they needed 18 boxes and I only had 14 in the truck with me. The boxes were numbered 1-18. But the people who packed/labeled the boxes numbered the boxes wrong. I had two #4 boxes and no #8 box. Box #16 wasn’t real; they just wrote a phantom box on to the boxing log, and box #1 through box #3 aka all the sheers, were never put in to the van. Way to look professional.

On the way back Jason and I stopped to eat at Texas Road House. It is SO much better than Logans. Then we were on our way home but there was a Barnes and Noble right across the street so Jason and I popped in. I got a few Mercedes Lackey books in preparation for my 3 week business trip, and a comic. The whole way there and back Jason and I talked about my Scion character. I have a kick ass origin story now. I need to write it up as a narrative.

Oh, Ed just came up and told me I have to drive back to OK, right now.

Bye.

I have been asked if I would be interested in driving some drapes to Thackerville OK. It’s a straight shot up 35 close to the Tx/Ok border. I will be driving a Kem-Tex van. I would also be getting paid $50.25 for four hours of driving.

The trip will be on the 15th. (Aka next Tuesday.) I will get a ride to work, leave KemTex at 5pm with the drapes to go to a hotel in Thackerville. Instead of coming back to KemTex I will take the van home overnight. The next morning I will take the van to work and (hopefully) hitch a ride home with Jason.

Would any one want to come with me? It’s a chance to see the wild and untamed wilderness of Texas…in the dark. And see beautiful and exotic Thackerville…in the dark. If we are lucky we could even eat at the exclusive place on the side of the road. I might have my Scion: Hero book my then, you could look at it while I drive.

I downloaded the Scion Hero PDF. I have been trying to make a character for the paste few nights but flipping through a PDF drives me nuts. The game looked interesting enough; so I just went and ordered the cheapest hard copy I could find. I think it was $20 plus shipping. I saw one for $17 but the company only had twelve reviews and over half were negative.

I am planning a Scion of Loki. Loki seems to be about 52% bad guy, and his Scions tend towards siding with the bad guys so I am looking forward to playing a good scion of Loki.

I am having a little trouble following the rules. Usually I learn by making a character but I am confused about what the difference between a boon, and a birthright is. But so far I think my character is going to be an actor. His powers will be Fire, Chaos, and Magic. I don’t know how far I can go into each power at character creation but I plan to spread dots in Fire first, then Chaos then Magic. There is also a set of Epic attributes I can choose. I don’t know how the dot distribution at character creation works, but I can pick from Epic Intelligence, Epic Wits, and Epic Manipulation.

If I remember I will bring the PDF to the DnD game for you to look at.

Gorge Carlin is dead. I am genuinely bummed. I heard his comedy and I laughed. He was edgy and intelligent. In my humble opinion he was one of the greats.

However when ever a celebrity dies I find it hard to empathize with the people mourning over the death of some one they never knew. He was a man; possibly a great man or a even a spectacular bastard, but I didn’t know him. I regret that he won’t add any more of his unique brand comedy to the world, but I feel no personal sense of loss at his passing.

I would take Gorge Carlin on his worst day over a Carlos Mencias on his best though.

It’s morning at Xail and therabitt’s penthouse apartment. Xail and Ben are putting on superhero costumes and talking about what gadgets they are going to use. Xail feels that because Ben has superpowers Xail should get first pick of the cool gadgets. Therabitt is in a military outfit (a cross between U.N.I.T and black ops) making breakfast. I start go get up (I was sleeping on the couch) when therabitt tells me not to open the windows incase of sniper activity.

I can’t find my clothes. Xail and therabitt give me a skin tight rubber jumpsuit*. Putting on the jumpsuit is a major ordeal but it is pointed out that I am trying to put it on backwards. Once I turn it around I get dressed no problem. Looking in the mirror I see that the jumpsuit had a Peter Parker the day after the spider bite effect on me.

I wake up, then go back to sleep.

Now I am walking down to the basement with an unknown black woman in the same uniform as therabitt, and a scary woman in black. We walk up to a long row of lockers and the black woman opens one. A large robot comes out of no where and attacks us. The black woman turns in to the cat creature (Khajiit from Oblivion) and attacks the robot. Its stealth generator explodes killing the black woman, and destroying the robot. The blast from the robot apparently me and the woman in black powers. The woman in black turns in to a Khajiit and starts walking down the beach (we are now on the beach) waving her claws at buildings tearing huge swaths out of them. I turn in to an invisible Khajiit and start to *BUZZ* *BUZZ* *BUZZ*

*Now that I am out of the dream I wonder why Xail and therabitt had a skin tight rubber jump suit in my size. And considering I never misplace my clothes when I sleep at home I have to wonder what happened to them while I was asleep on their couch.

Fallout 3 PreOrder

I Pre-Ordered Fallout 3. The pre-order comes with an art book, a bobble head, a making of CD, and *drool* a lunch box! I needed that lunch box. They didn’t say if it came with a thermos or not, but I am assuming it wont. If you pre-order from Amazon.com the survival edition you can get a pipboy 3000 clock. It doesn’t fit on your arm and I couldn’t find any mention of an alarm feature for the pipboy so although I want it, it’s not worth the additional $50 to get it.

Fallout 3 is made by Bethesda; they are the same people that made Oblivion Elder scrolls. Oblivion is a huge game, the main plot is handed to you at the beginning but you are expected to ignore it and explore the world on your own. I think this style of game play would work well with the Fallout style of story telling. In the first game you were told to find a water chip then they throw you out alone in to the big scary world and you have to wonder around and find the chip your self.

The game is going to be released for the PS3, X-Box 360, and PC (windows). My pre-order is for the PC version.

If they made the game for a console then ported it over to the PC with the same basic control set up (up, down, right, left, A, B, X, Y) I will be disappointed. You can do so much more with a keyboard. Shift for run, space for jump, Q for quick save, 1-0 as weapon hot keys, oh yeah… that’s the stuff. Also I want to name my Saves. I always have a save for trying things out. I want to see what happens when I try to negotiate with the huge man-eating super intelligent mutant, and I want to see what happened when I insult his mother. Usually I name this save “stupid.” I also have “Stealing” “fighting” and a save for each boss so I can go back and fight them again if I want. Save 1, and Save 2, don’t cut it.

I am excited about this pre order, it’s my first.

http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/vault/diaries_diary5-6.6.08.html

There is a gay and lesbian TV Station called Logo. One of the shows on this station is called “Logo best in short films.” It’s a show that runs short films with gay themes in them. To be fair about 50% is utter crap and another 40% is only amusing if you are in the “gay subculture.” The film I linked to below is one of the better ones. It’s about 30min long, and it’s called Prada Handbag. I don’t want to say too much about the plot because I think I couldn’t do it justice.

http://www.logoonline.com/shows/events/short_films/details.jhtml?cid=1588122

It’s the end of the day and I have update.

I heard from Teresa that Ed thinks I make less than I really do. So the $1.00 raise may end up as a $0.75 raise.

I heard from Ed. He did talk to Matt. Matt seemed to think that I had just recently gotten a raise. Ed told Matt that according to me, I haven’t had a raise in over a year. Ed told me that he has now done all he said he would do.

And it’s true; all he said he would do is talk to Matt about getting me a $1.00 raise. He never actually said I would get this or any other raise.

Teresa wants to know if this raise will be enough for me to take my resume off Craigs List. And I am not sure. I will have to live with it for a while. Some of the jobs offer more than I would be making with this raise. But KemTex is moving to Carrollton so I will save on Gas.

Last night I took my sisters lap top home because it was having problems. It would randomly pop up porn ads. Blake fiddled with it all night. Ever hour or so he would come in to the living room and tell me the latest horrible thing he found. Around 1am he comes in cussing and tell me she has a “Root Kit.” From what I gathered from Blake a Root Kit is just about the worst thing you can get on your computer, it is a program that hides on your computer and it installs evil DLL files. You can get rid of the DLL files but not the Root Kit which will just replace the deleted DLLs with new ones. DLL files are sets of commands that the operating system continuously checks for instructions.

This morning while I was telling my sister that her computer was hosed and she needed to go scorched earth on it, and start from scratch. Ed told me in front of witnesses that he would talk to Matt about giving me a $1.00 an hour raise, today. He said he heard how I had been helping Teresa, and that my attitude had improved.

Personally I don’t think my attitude has changed. And all the helping Teresa I have been doing is all the same stuff I do to help Ed. But whatever gets me a raise.

I am going to be skeptical about the raise until it shows up on my pay check.

Ed found my resume on Craigs List. I had imagined that if he found it he would realize I was serious about leaving and we would have a “How can I get you to stay?” conversation. But we didn’t. We spoke less than six full sentences on the subject then it was over. I have been rehearsing the conversation in my head for weeks. But Ed didn’t seem to have the same script. I did manage to deliver my favorite line, “I can’t wait for an imaginary raise.” But I think I had lost his attention by then.

#Story 1#

A little over a year ago Herschel made a habit of sending his men over or coming him self to get his drapes on Saturday. This caused a lot of paper work confusion because we try to move the files from my desk to billing when he take the drapes, and we have Herschel’s people sign the work order. None of this can happen on Saturday when none of the office personnel are here. And the weekends are for the shop to work uninterrupted. Having Herschel show up and demand drapes that no one in the shop knows the location of is extremely disrupting. So we told Herschel he couldn’t come on Saturday any more.

Last Saturday I got a series of calls from work. The first was from Juanita. It seems one of my accounts Herschel was out side the shop demanding his drapes. His customer had driven in from Abilene and he needed his drape. Juanita locked all the shop doors from the inside, and had one of the men go tell him that we couldn’t give drapes out on Saturdays, Juanita wasn’t here and to leave.

Herschel refused to go. He demanded they call a supervisor so that he could get permission to pick up on Saturday. The men work for Marty, so they gave Herschel his cell phone number. Herschel called Marty (Marty has nothing to do with the drape side of KemTex, he is the head of the cleaning side.) Marty called Juanita angry because she (supposedly) wasn’t in the shop when she was supposed to be shop supervisor. Juanita told Marty she was in the shop she just didn’t want to deal with Herschel.

Next Marty called Ed and Juanita called me. Then Ed called me. Then Marty texted me the phone number to KemTex (for some reason). I told Juanita not to give Herschel the drapes. Then I called Ed to tell him I told Juanita not to give Herschel the drapes. Finally I ignored the phone number text message.

All the while Herschel is out side in the Texas. Waiting for his drapes; and he is calling every one he can think of to call including Shane. At the end of the day he didn’t get his drape.

So now I wonder who gave Juanita my cell number.

#Story 2#

Ed and Shane were arguing all day. Loud angry screaming could be heard all over the building.

Jason wonders up to my cube as he often does and I inquired as to lunch. I had no money because I leave my debit card at home these days. If Jason and I were to do to lunch together it would be on his dime. Jason said he had only $4. He then (with absolutely no prompting from me honest) went to ask Ed for additional lunch funding. Less than a minute later Jason wonders up to my cube with an additional $6, and Ed wanted to know where we were going for lunch. With $5 for each of us we would most likely be going to Wendy’s. Ed has a strong dislike of Wendy’s. However I pointed out that if Ed were to give us more money we could theoretically go to Jason’s Deli, a place Ed enjoys. So I sent Jason back to Ed’s office with this message.

Shortly there after, riotous laughter could be heard from both Ed and Shane. Loud guffaws in near harmonic tandem, as father and eldest son find common ground laughing at Jason’s request for (more) money.

The laughter dies, and Jason again comes wondering over to my cube. He leans against the short wall and says. “He only had a hundred.” and displays the bill.
